Standing tall near the shores of the revered city of Puri in Odisha, the Puri Lighthouse offers a unique blend of coastal charm and spiritual ambiance. Located close to the bustling Marine Drive Road, the lighthouse provides a serene contrast to the vibrant life of this historic pilgrimage destination.

Commissioned in 1983, the lighthouse rises to a height of 40 meters and is marked by its bold white and red horizontal bands, making it easily identifiable against the skyline. It serves as a crucial coastal beacon for mariners navigating the Bay of Bengal, contributing to the safety and efficiency of maritime traffic in the region. What sets Puri Lighthouse apart is its proximity to one of India’s most sacred sites—the Jagannath Temple. As such, it attracts not only sea-farers but also tourists and pilgrims who wish to witness the vastness of the ocean from a tranquil vantage point. The lighthouse is open to visitors during specific hours, offering a panoramic view of the golden beaches, the bustling coastal road, and the spiritual heart of Puri. Maintained by the Directorate of Lighthouses and Lightships, Kolkata (DLL Kolkata), the Puri Lighthouse has become an essential part of India’s coastal tourism circuit. It stands as a symbol of guidance—not only for ships at sea but also for those seeking peace and perspective along the shore
