    Santapalli Lighthouse is a navigational aid and landmark located in Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is situated near the port of Vishakhapatnam city, with coordinates at 18° 03.9' N and 83° 38.4' E. The lighthouse covers an area of 11.56 acres. Santapalli Lighthouse is situated from 36 Km. from Vizianagaram Railway Station, Light house Approach is by road from Pusapatirega to Santapalli Lighthouse is 15 Km. It is also approached by road from Visakhapatnam city 70 km away. 

    The first lighthouse was commissioned in 1840. The present masonry Lighthouse was constructed during 1903 with 22-meter height with black and white bands, 55mm PV light equipment supplied by M/s. Chance Brothers UK was installed on the tower. The Lighthouse was commissioned in June, 1903. The PV light was discontinued and 400W 230 Volts MH Lamp with electrical drive of optic assembly was installed in January, 1995. The main source MH lamp was replaced by three number 150 Watts 230 Volts Metal Halide Lamps in cluster in April, 2002. 3.65m dia, Lantern house of M/s. Chance Brothers, U.K. having 32 glazing panels. 12 No. Hit and miss ventilators are provided in the murette. Approach to lantern room is through interior staircase of LH tower. 

          Two optic panels, chance Brothers UK make, 3rd order large revolving at 6 RPM gives a character of FL(2W) flash every 10 sec (02+2.3+0.2+7.3). The optic assembly is mounted on mercury float pedestal and it is revolved by M/s unique systems and controls Pvt. Ltd make dual stepper motor 40kg-cm2 torque with manual changeover. Weight of Mercury is 88kgs in optic pedestal.
