Kodikkarai light house is situated in Kodikkarai coastal village about 12 kilometres to the south of Vedaranyam Taluk in Nagapattinam district. This Light house was commissioned on 1998.The light house is situated in the southern shore of the Point Calimere and marks a right turn on the shore. The nearest railway station is thiruthuraipoondi around 33 kms and nearest bus stand is Vedaranyam. A railway line extended up to Vedaranyam is in progress. Point Calimere wildlife and Birds sanctuary is situated 1km from the Kodikkarai Light house. Kuzhagar temple which was build at the time of chola period is situated 2 kms from the light house. A fishing harbor is also situated near to the light house.
