Nizampatnam is a village in Bapatla district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Nizampatnam mandal in Repalle revenue division. The Dutch occupied the city for trading from 1606−1668.Named after the Nizam of Hyderabad and natively known as Peddapalli, it was also referred as Petapoly by the Dutch settlers and by the British as Pettipolee or Pettipoly. It was ruled by Velanati Cholas in the 12-13 th century AD. Later, it was under the kingdom of Golkonda. The British East India Company established a factory here in 1621, which closed in 1687 when all factories subordinate to Fort St. George were withdrawn. The Lighthouse is about 4.5 Km away from Nizampatnam village and located in the Nizampatnam fishing harbor. Tucked away in the south of Krishna delta, Nizampatnam is an embayment adjoining the Krishna Delta and has a fishing harbour. A kerosene lamp was installed on old lighthouse tower which is maintained by the local authorities up to 2004. The light house tower at the present location was constructed in 2004 and the electrically operated optical equipment with gearless Stepper motor-controlled Lens frame was supplied by M/s ANA Navaids, Delhi was installed on the tower. The Lighthouse was commissioned on 2nd July 2004. The Metal halide lamp of specification is 230 V 150 W was placed for illumination.
