    Vodarevu Lighthouse approach to the station is by road from Vijayawada city, The distance from Vijayawada is almost about 110 KM. The nearest railway station is Chirala (09 KM distance). The new Lighthouse tower is a RCC cylindrical structure with red and white alternate bands. The station is established in the year September 2003.   

    The RCC tower construction is made with slip form technique construction of 30m high RCC Lighthouse Tower shell with top slab is provided with 2.16M height for Lantern house. The approach to the top of Lighthouse Tower is by staircase inside tower shell. Lantern made by M/s. Stone Chance Brothers, U.K. having 2.16m dia of Lantern with 1.13m height of glazing pane 8(eight) nos. are provided with 1.20m height murrette walls, 7nos. ventilators are provided. Approach to lantern room is through RCC spiral staircase inside Lighthouse Tower. Two panel Optic M/S Stone chance brothers UK make, 4th order 250mm revolving at 1 RPM gives a character of group FL(2W) every 15 seconds (Fl 0.6 + ec 1.9 + Fl 0.6 + ec 11.9). The optic assembly is mounted on mercury float pedestal and it is revolved by M/s unique systems and controls Pvt. Ltd make dual stepper motor 20kg-cm2 torque with manual changeover. The illuminant of 150W/230V Metal Halide lamp with Electronic ballast is used along with individual UPS system.
