Located within the strategic port town of Paradip on the Odisha coast, the Paradip Lighthouse plays a key role in supporting one of India’s major commercial harbors. Overlooking the confluence of the Mahanadi River and the Bay of Bengal, this lighthouse has long served as a vital aid to navigation for vessels entering and exiting the busy Paradip Port.

Commissioned in 1987, the lighthouse stands at a height of 40 meters and features a distinctive pattern of black and white horizontal bands. Designed to ensure visibility in all weather conditions, it is equipped with modern lighting and communication systems to assist maritime traffic around the clock.

Though built with a primarily functional purpose, the Paradip Lighthouse has also opened its doors to tourists interested in maritime heritage and panoramic sea views. From its top gallery, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the coastline, the bustling port activities, and the vast expanse of the ocean—a unique perspective on Odisha’s industrial and natural landscape.

Operated by the Directorate of Lighthouses and Lightships, Kolkata (DLL Kolkata) Paradip Lighthouse stands as a proud symbol of India’s maritime strength. It is now a part of the national lighthouse tourism initiative, welcoming travelers to explore coastal engineering, navigation, and the rhythm of port life
