    Machilipatnam Lighthouse is situated in east coast part of Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh. It is 85Km away from Vijayawada Railway Station and Gannavaram Airport. Approach is by road from Vijayawada to Machilipatnam town 70 km then 15Km to Lighthouse. Machilipatnam city have a rich history as prominent port and trading centre. Dutch and French are first entered in this place in India. British established their first settlement in India at Machilipatnam and it is the headquarters for their trading until they moved to madras. The first Lighthouse was commissioned in 1858, is a prominent landmark in the region, serving as a guide for maritime navigation and a symbol of the city’s rich history. The present Lighthouse was constructed during 1984 and the construction work was done between 1982 -84. Presently MBR300 MSM model optic equipment with 150W MH Lamp is using as light beacon from July 2010 and it rotate with Brushless DC direct drive stepper motor as a drive system before that PRB 21 equipment is used as light beacon. The luminous range of the light source is 20 nautical miles. The height of the tower is 50mtrs and shape is RCC Circular tower with black and white bands. The Geographical range of the tower is 16.5 nautical miles with naked eye in clear climate. The approach to the top of Lighthouse tower is by stair case only from inside the tower. Machilipatnam Lighthouse compound is covered with approximately 3acres land with office building staff quarter’s buildings and inspection buildings and etc.
