Vakalpudi Lighthouse is a navigational aid and landmark located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, INDIA. It is situated near the Kakinada Port with co-ordinates at 17° 00.08' N and 82° 17.1' E. The lighthouse covers an area of 6 Acres. Vakalpudi Lighthouse is situated 12Kms from Kakinada Town Railway Station, The Lighthouse is approach by road from Kakinada City to Vakalpudi Lighthouse is 10Kms. It is also approached by road from Samalkota Railway station is about 15Kms away.
The Lighthouse was commissioned in 08/11/2004 with 45 meters height with Red and White bands, 350mm (4th order) revolving equipment supplied by M/S. BBT was installed on the tower. The Main source of the MH lamp is 3No’s 150W 230V Metal Halide lamps in Cluster formation. 2.5Mtrs diameter of the lantern house of M/S. BBT make having 10 glazing panels, 9 No’s Ventilators are provided in the murette.
Three optic panels M/S. BBT make, 4th order revolving at 4 RPM gives a character of 3 flashes for every 15 Seconds (0.19+0.19+0.19+14.03). The optic assembly is mounted on mercury float pedestal and it is revolved by M/S. Unique systems and controls Pvt.Ltd. Make dual stepper motor 20Kg-cm2 torque with manual changeover. Weight of Mercury is 55.50 Kgs in optic Pedestal.
